Believing is Seeing

Believing is Seeing

How to thrive in your outer-world while always enjoying your inner-world.

When both my parents died in 2005, something inside me felt that what killed them that day was not the same thing that made them sick, and I have been on a mission to find out what that is, and how to prevent it for my self and others in the future since then. Over 15 years later, I figured it out, and it comes down to believing. I don’t mean believing in general, or believing what you can see or something specific. I mean believing our/your future will be greater than our past; believing that we are capable and ready for what we need to do to achieve the goals we desire; and believing that even through the bad times, there is a God and his name is Jesus Christ, and he is with us, in us, and for us by grace to all who believe.

They have said that seeing is believing. I have even heard that those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. My plan with this blog is to show you without a doubt why both of those statements are incorrect. For one, those who no only remember the past, but also think about it often are certainly condemned to repeat it. If you know anything about your reticular activating system you know that what ever you think about, transfers to your conscious observations. For example, if you just bought a new Cadillac, then you may find yourself noticing many other people with the same car as you than you have ever noticed before. That is how our R.A.S allows us to understand the world around us. We see more of what we think about. That being said, if you are thinking about your past mistakes and regrets along with any negative memories of the past, more likely than not, you will experience the same thing in the future.

Emotional Rut
On the contrary, if your past is filled with mistakes, regrets, and negativity, one would be better off to think of things and a world that is ideal to that person regardless of the current physical reality that person was living in. This point of view tricks the body and mind in a way that allows some cohesion to express to the body and mind of that specific reality. That being said, if you are stuck in a parasympathetic emotional rut thinking of all things negative, those things you fear will most likely come to pass. Since the body does not judge a situation in and of itself, it is up to us to define those moments to allow for a more creative and positive response that will create a domino effect of positive thoughts and affirmations.
Gratitude
My parents were leaders of people most of their adult life. That position comes with a good amount of stress. What I have learned over the years, is that stress is the biggest killer of people more than anything else in the world. The scary part is, if you look at the statistics of what is killing us and the ones we love, you see prescription drugs, cancer, and even heart disease, but those things are just what happed because we were stressed. If you remove stress from the scenario, you most likely won’t get to see the disease itself. Disease, is nothing more than a dis-ease of the body. It is an imbalance or a lack of coherence with the mind, body, and soul. By definition it is the Dis (the moving away from, or removing of) ease, which is a comfort state our bodies enjoy. However, a body and mind in gratitude, Joy, and love can never be effected by anything that can cause a disease. The body’s first objective is to live, then to love life, and finally to duplicate life. That was step one for my parents, but they never got a chance to see the fruits of their spiritual labor.
My father died of Brain & Prostate cancer at the age of 51 and my mother died of ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at the age of 50. What I have learned over the years researching this topic is that less than 2% of us as human beings are born with a physical chromosomal defect that would cause these diseases to manifest. What really happens to those who are negatively affected is their thoughts dictate their state of emotion based on those thoughts and the environment they live in. The emotional state we are in at any given time is what is mainly responsible for keeping us focused and growing. You might be thinking you know people who are worse off or have had it worse and yet they are alive and well. That information basically tells me that what I have discovered about stress is true, and without expression our bodies will take the brunt of its effect. Even those who complain express that negative thought in such a way that the stress does not overwhelm the body. All this has taught me that what I have been searching for since the day my parents took their last breath, has allowed me to understand how we can control our emotions, and live longer healthier lifestyles by avoiding stress.
That last statement should come with an asterisk because stress is a part of life, and we all experience it throughout our lifetime. However, my parents were not complainers, and complaining (as bad as it sounds to the listener) is the bodies expression of energy from that negative thought as I previously explained. That expression takes away much of the negative effect that feeling has on the body, so overtime, it is not that negatively impactful to the person. In the case of my parents, they never complained and they never stopped working hard or trying to avoid the feeling of stress. They just kept taking it and taking it and never allowed themselves to receive anything from anyone else. I truly believe that is what caused them to get their diseases. They held on to stress and pressure while working themselves to the bone raising 4 children for 30 years strait. One day, the body said, “enough is enough, we can’t take this feeling anymore.”- the human body.
At that point the body begins to think its job is done, and simply responds to the negative stimulus the only way it knows how. This process usually begins the point of no return, but it is also at this point where the greatest changes can be made. My parents, (nor I at the time) understood what effect this long-term negative feeling would have on them, nor did we see it as the cause of their illnesses at the time. For the rest of us that are still breathing, we can change. We can be change, and we can make a change. The change can save our lives…for now. At that point there is enough time to fulfil our purpose we are born with and long enough to change the lives of our children and their children. My parents are gone, but they didn’t die for no reason. Their death taught me many things, and it is my hope and prayer, that others will be saved because of that. Not only will it create longer happier lives for people, but it will create a better world and better people to share this world with. Don’t believe me? Close your eyes, and just imagine…Trust me, Believing is Seeing! 😉
